Monumental Vintage Italian Burst with a British Barometer at the center.   The front of the barometer reads: Compensated  SMITHS Made In England British Pat's Applied For.  The back of the wood frame is stamped MADE IN ITALY, and instructions are provided for operating the barometer. 

The burst itself is stunning, made of carved wood, hand painted with gold leafing and mirror effects in each of the arms of the bursts.  Measures 36" in diameter and is found to be in excellent overall vintage condition!
